Using Template (EVTPL) Files
Using Template (EVTPL) Files
Templates are special Canvas Envision documents that you can
use as the basis for new documents. When you select a template from the Open
screen, Canvas Envision creates a new document containing the graphics and text
in the template and uses the template’s settings for layers, pages, rulers,
grids, guides, views, and default object attributes.
How is a template different than a regular Canvas
Envision document (EVDOC)? When you choose a template, Canvas Envision creates a new
document based on the template, but it doesn’t actually open that template
file. When you make changes to that new document and save it, the changes don’t
affect the original template.
To Open Templates
- Click Open from the Backstage View in the Home screen.
- Click Browse in the Open screen.
- Select EVTPL – Canvas Envision Template (*.evtpl) from the File Format type drop-down list in the Open dialog box.
- Navigate to a folder of templates.
- Select a template that you want to open.
- Click Open.
| You can open a template by double-clicking a EVTPL file in the Windows Explorer. Canvas Envision treats a template in a similar way when you open one by double-clicking its file icon or using the Open command.
|
To Save As Templates
- Click File tab of the Ribbon.
- Click Save As from the Backstage View
- Select EVTPL – Canvas Envision Template (*.evtpl) from the Save as type drop-down list in the Save As dialog box.
- Type a file name in the File Name field.
