Annotating on the 3D Model object

You can annotate on the placed 3D Model objects:

  • Serial numbers – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5…

  • Serial alphabets – A, B, C, D, E… or a, b, c, d, e…

  • Instance Names – from 3D Model

  • Custom property – from User Properties of 3D Model

  • Any texts – typing texts

with a shape frame or without.

To Annotate on the 3D Model with (serial numbers or alphabets, custom texts) Manually

  1. Select a 3D Model object that you want to annotate.

  2. Click the 3D Model contextual tab of the Ribbon.

  3. Click the appropriate annotation tool.

  4. Select a preset from the drop-list if the current setting is not suitable.

                                

These presets can be edited or added up to 10 from the Tool Defaults pane. Please refer to: Using the Tool Defaults pane.

 

  1. Click on the 3D Model object and drag out to place an annotation text.

  2. Repeat step 5 as needed.

  3. Press Esc to exit the mode.

                     

To Annotate on the 3D Model object with (Instance Name or Custom Property) manually

  1. Select a 3D Model object that you want to add annotations on.

  2. Click the 3D Model contextual tab of the Ribbon.

  1. Click Data Annotation.

  2. Select Instance Name or Custom from the drop-down list.

  3. When Custom is selected, the Custom Data Annotation dialog box is displayed.

  4. Select a property whose values you want to use for annotation.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Mouse over a part highlights the pointed part and shows the value which is loaded from the 3D model based on its pointing site in the tooltip.

  7. When you decide to annotate it, click and drag out to place the annotation string.

  8. Repeat step 9 as needed.

  9. Press Esc to exit the mode.

The pointing sites will be remembered relatively so that they should be retained correctly to a certain extent when the 3D Model scene is changed later.
