Creating New Documents

You can create a new document selecting a blank page.

To Start with a New Blank Document

  1. Launch the application.

  2. Click a blank preset from the New list in the Home screen.


The Home tab is focused, and the 1st page of the specified size and orientation is displayed in the Page Layout area.

Page size, orientation, and other page layout settings can be changed any time after you create a new document.

 

While you are working on a document, you can create a new document by selecting the File tab or pressing Ctrl+(the new instance of the default blank will be opened).

 

Also, you can Right-click the application icon in the Windows taskbar and click Canvas Envision to create another Envision instance.

To Navigate between Open Instances

  1. Select View tab of the Ribbon.

  2. Click Switch Windows drop-down list.

  3. Select a document.

You can also select an open document from the Documents drop-list in the Status bar.

 

To Edit a Blank Document Preset

  1. Right-click on a blank preset that you want to edit.

  2. Select Edit Blank Preset from the context menu.

  3. Select a paper size from the preset sizes. If you cannot find one that you are looking for, select Custom.

  4. When Custom is selected, you can specify Paper width and Paper height.

  5. Set Pager orientationScaleNumber format, Default Font and Font size as needed.

  6. Type a new name.

  7. Click OK.

The Right-clicked blank preset will be replaced with the new settings.

This can be useful to list the most frequently used blank presets always shown without scrolling.

 

To Add a New Blank Preset

  1. Right-click on any of the blank presets.

  2. Select Add Blank Preset from the context menu.

  3. Select a paper size from the preset sizes. If you cannot find one that you are looking for, select Custom.

  4. When Custom is selected, you can specify Paper width and Paper height.

  5. Set Pager orientationScaleNumber format, Default Font and Font size as needed.

  6. Type a new name.

  7. Click OK.

The new blank preset will be added at the end of the list.

To Delete a Blank Preset

  1. Right-click on a blank preset that you want to delete.

  2. Select Delete Blank Preset from the context menu.

To Open the Default Blank Directly

  1. Launch the application or select the File tab.

  2. Select Options from the Backstage View in the Home screen.


  3. Select the Show Home screen on application start checkbox in the Application Preferences dialog box.

  4. Click OK.

When you launch the application next time, the default blank will be opened without displaying the Home screen.

To Change the Default Blank

  1. Launch the application or select the File tab.

  2. Right-click on a blank preset that you want to set as default.

  3. Select Set as Default in the context menu.

When the selected blank preset is set as default, the checkmark will appear at the top left corner.
